Lonnie Sweeney was promoted to the Head Golf Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s teams in April 2026 after serving as an Assistant Coach from 2023-2026.

In his third year as Assistant Coach at Thomas More University, Coach Sweeney played a key role in leading the women’s program to a historic milestone, setting a school 18-hole record with a score of 304 at the Bill Crabtree Invitational in Owensboro, Kentucky. He continued to help lead the Saints to a team victory the following week at the Crimson Classic in Kokomo, Indiana, where Lauryn Lambert captured her first collegiate title.
Sweeney has six years of golf coaching experience at the high school level, spending four years as the Head Coach at Bishop Brossart High School and two years as an Assistant Coach at South Side High School.
Sweeney was a member of the Indiana PGA Section from 1994-1998 and played professionally from 1989-1998.
