Kate Daugherty

Kate Daugherty joined Thomas More Athletics as the Assistant Director of Sports Information in January 2026.

She previously served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at King University in Bristol, Tennessee. While at King, she helped run media coverage for 29 varsity sports, including the hosting duties of the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championships and Men’s Volleyball Championships. She also covered former King wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt during her gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Prior to King, Daugherty spent a year as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at the University of Akron in Ohio, serving as the primary contact for women’s volleyball and women’s swimming & diving and as a secondary contact for softball and women's lacrosse. During her time with the Zips, she covered a gold medal at the Pan-American Championships for Team Canada, a Team USA Paralympic Swimming National Team member’s Para American Record in the 200-yard butterfly and the women’s swimming & diving program’s 10th team conference championship in 11 years.

In addition to her experience in college athletic communications, Daugherty brings a multitude of experience in other areas of the sports industry.

Since 2013, she has worked for the ACP Productions Radio Network as an On-Site Producer/Engineer, Spotter, and Social Media Coordinator for northeast Ohio high school football radio broadcasts that air through the Salem Media Group stations in the Cleveland area. For 5 years, Daugherty served as an Operations Assistant at the Pro Football Hall of Fame helping with the planning, execution, and post-event wrap up for the annual Enshrinement Weekend, Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic game, and the OHSAA Football Championships.

During the 2023 USFL spring football season, Daugherty was an Equipment Assistant for the Pittsburgh Maulers during their championship game appearance season. She also has experience with Media Operations, assisting the communications team during NASCAR race weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway in both September 2024 and September 2025. She also assisted the OHSAA with Media Operations during the 2019 and 2025 Football Championship weekends.

The Ohio native earned her bachelors in Sport Management and Business Administration from Malone University in 2023. During her time at Malone, she served as the Sports Information Intern for 3.5 years where she was the primary contact for women’s basketball and softball. In May of 2026, Daugherty earned her Masters of Sport Science/Coaching with a concentration in Sport Administration from the University of Akron. Her thesis on the community impact and personal legacies of the St. Edward vs Saint Ignatius high school football rivalry in the Cleveland, Ohio area is published on the OhioLINK Electronic Theses & Dissertations Center.
