Cory Blackson is entering his 19th year in the athletic department at Thomas More University during the 2026–27 academic year and currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. In addition, he serves as the Athletic Director at Covington Latin School.
Blackson began his tenure at Thomas More in 2008 as Director of Athletic Communications and assumed additional responsibilities as Senior Athletic Compliance Officer in 2015. In 2018, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Communications, and in the summer of 2021 transitioned full-time into his current role overseeing compliance.
In his position, Blackson is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and evaluation of the University’s athletic compliance program. His duties include the daily operation of compliance efforts, rules education, rules interpretations, and coordination of institutional compliance initiatives.
During his 13 years leading athletic communications at Thomas More, Blackson significantly expanded the visibility of Saints athletics. He introduced social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, implemented video webcasts, and added live in-game statistics for athletic events. In 2012, he spearheaded a complete redesign of the athletics website in partnership with PrestoSports, transitioning it to a .com domain, and later led additional redesigns in 2015 and 2018.
A 2002 graduate of Capital University, Blackson earned his MBA from Thomas More University in 2017. Prior to his arrival at Thomas More, he served as Assistant Sports Information Director at Baldwin Wallace University from 2006 to 2008, acting as the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, volleyball, and softball. He also spent one year as Sports Information Director of the USA South Athletic Conference and one year as Assistant Sports Information Director at Capital University. As an undergraduate at Capital, Blackson worked as a student assistant with the men’s basketball team and later served two years as Director of Basketball Operations for the program.
Blackson is a member of the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC) and College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), where he served on the Academic All-America Committee from 2006 to 2021. He currently serves on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Ethics and Eligibility Committee and is Vice Chair of the G-MAC Compliance Committee. Additionally, he served as Head Men’s Golf Coach at Thomas More during the 2010–11 academic year and was a member of the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Mid-Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee (2010–11) and the Great Lakes Regional Advisory Committee (2013–14).
Blackson and his wife, Susan, reside in Edgewood, Kentucky, with their daughter, Emily, and son, Colin.
