Cory Blackson enters his 19th year in the Thomas More University Athletics Department during the 2026–27 academic year and currently serves as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.
Blackson joined Thomas More in 2008 as Director of Athletic Communications and added the role of Senior Athletic Compliance Officer in 2015. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Communications in 2018 before transitioning full-time to compliance in the summer of 2021. In the summer of 2026, he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.
In his current role, Blackson oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the University's athletics compliance program. He manages the day-to-day operation of the compliance office, including NCAA rules education, rules interpretations, monitoring, and the coordination of institutional compliance initiatives.
During his 13 years leading athletic communications, Blackson significantly enhanced the visibility of Saints Athletics. He launched the department's presence on social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, introduced live video webcasts and in-game statistics, and led multiple redesigns of the athletics website. In 2012, he partnered with PrestoSports to redesign the website and transition it to a .com domain, with additional redesigns completed in 2015 and 2018.
In June 2026, Blackson was selected as one of 21 senior-level administrators nationwide for the NCAA Pathway Program's 2026–27 cohort. The year-long, experiential leadership development program prepares high-potential administrators from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III for executive leadership positions in intercollegiate athletics.
A 2002 graduate of Capital University, Blackson earned his MBA from Thomas More University in 2017. Prior to joining Thomas More, he served as Assistant Sports Information Director at Baldwin Wallace University from 2006 to 2008, where he was the primary media contact for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, men's and women's golf, volleyball, and softball. He also served as Sports Information Director for the USA South Athletic Conference and as Assistant Sports Information Director at Capital University. As an undergraduate at Capital, Blackson worked as a student assistant with the men's basketball program before serving two years as the program's Director of Basketball Operations.
Blackson is an active member of the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC) and College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). He served on the Academic All-America Committee from 2006 to 2021, completed a two-year term on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Ethics and Eligibility Committee, and currently serves as Vice Chair of the G-MAC Compliance Committee. He also served as Thomas More's Head Men's Golf Coach during the 2010–11 academic year and was a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Mid-Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee (2010–11) and Great Lakes Regional Advisory Committee (2013–14).
Blackson and his wife, Susan, reside in Edgewood, Kentucky, with their daughter, Emily, and son, Colin.
