(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association has announced Thomas More University women's volleyball first-year Emily Mohs (Cincinnati, Ohio / Seton) as the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Player of the Week. Each week Sports Imports and the AVCA recognize deserving student-athletes at the collegiate level who have demonstrated outstanding play on the court throughout the week of competition.
Mohs played a key role in the Saints' 4-1 week, smashing a career-high 36 kills on .373 hitting in the upset win over previously undefeated and No. 1 ranked Calvin in Grand Rapids. Mohs contributed five digs and three blocks defensively. She tallied double-digit kill totals in the four other matches, never hitting below .250 in a match, including a .474 performance against Elmhurst.
Mohs was also named ACAA Player of the Week this week for her performance over the weekend.
This is the third Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week in program history, with most recent honor being Leslie Hoelscher on September 5, 2006.
The women's volleyball volleyball is back on the court this Friday, Oct. 19 as it hosts Transylvania at 7 p.m. in the Connor Convocation Center.
