Thomas More Sweeps Defiance, 9-0, on Senior Day

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's tennis team swept Defiance College, 9-0, today (Saturday, October 6, 2018) in a match that was played indoors at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

  • The win was head coach Chris Eilerman's 50th career win with the program as he is 50-31.
  • Eilerman has a combined career record of 89-61 as the head coach of Saints' men's and women's tennis teams.
  • Seniors Nicole Capodagli (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) celebrated their Senior Day during today's match.

  • Junior Brooke Warden (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) and sophomore Hannah Lowman (Vine Grove, Ky./North Hardin) won 8-5 at No. 1.
  • The No. 2 pair of Capodagli and Fellinger won 8-0.
  • First-year Alyssa Dowdell (Vine Grove, Ky./North Hardin) and junior Lacey Pohlman (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) won 8-1 at No. 3.

  • Warden won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1.
  • Lowman won her No. 2 match 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
  • Capodagli won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
  • Fellinger was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 4.
  • Sophomore Matison Perry (Union, Ky./Ryle) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
  • Riffe was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 6.

  • Thomas More returns to the courts on Sunday (October 7) when it hosts future Mid-South Conference foe Shawnee State University at 12 p.m. at the Notre Dame Academy Courts in Park Hills, Kentucky.
