Women's Tennis Starts Season Off With a Win

(DECATUR, Ill.) - Thomas More women's tennis team opened the 2018-19 athletic season off on a high note, defeating Millikin University 6-3. The Saints dominated the singles play to secure the win, taking five of the six singles matches. 


  • Junior Brooke Warden (Edgewood, Ky. / Dixie Heights) won in straight sets in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
  • Sophomore Hannah Lowman (Vine Grove, Ky. / North Hardin) took her singles match to three sets, pulling out a win in the No. 2 spot, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (7).
  • Senior Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio / Taylor) defeated the No. 4 spot opponent in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. 
  • First-year Alyssa Dowdell (Vine Grove, Ky. / North Hardin) won the first match of her collegiate career in the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-2.
  • Sophomore Jana Riffe (Ft. Thomas, Ky. / Highlands) won her singles match in the No. 6 spot in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. 
  • Senior Nicole Capodagli (Cincinnati, Ohio / McAuley) fell in the lone Saints singles loss in the No. 3 spot, 1-6, 2-6. 

  • Junior Lacey Pohlman (Ft. Thomas, Ky. / Highlands) and sophomore Matison Perry (Union, Ky. / Ryle) was the lone pair to win their doubles match. The pair won 8-2 in the No. 3 spot. 
  • Warden and Lowman fell in their singles match, 8-5 in the No. 1 spot.
  • Capodagli and Fellinger fell in the No. 2 spot 9-8 (10-8). 

  • Saints start the season off 1-0
  • Dowdell gets first win of her collegiate career, winning in straight sets.
