Women's Soccer Heads to Wheaton, Ill. This Weekend

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More women's soccer team travels to Wheaton, Ill this weekend to take on Wheaton and Aurora this Friday and Saturday. 

  • Thomas More Saints travel to Wheaton, Ill. to take on the Wheaton Thunder and the Aurora Spartans.
  • The match is set to kick-off at 7:00pm on Friday and 4:30pm on Saturday.

  • Due to severe weather in the area, the home match against Capital on Wednesday was declared a no contest since the match never officially started.
  • The Saints opened the season at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament where they came up short in both games.
  • Saints fell short to Otterbein, 3-0 on Saturday and to Baldwin Wallace 2-0 on Sunday.
  • Maddy Kim played all 180 minutes, recording 11 saves in the Otterbein game and three saves against Baldwin Wallace.
  • Olivia Nienaber took four shots with one shot on goal, leading the team so far this season.

  • The Wheaton Thunder come into today's match 2-0 after defeating the University of St. Thomas 2-0, and Salisbury University 3-0.
  • Sara Bakke recorded three shots for one goal in the St. Thomas match.
  • Bailey Wolf also had one goal off two shots in the match.
  • Three different players for the Thunder scored in the match against Salisbury.
  • Goalkeeper, Lauren Ketchum, has recorded seven saves and no goals allowed over the first two games.

  • The Aurora Spartans come into tomorrow's match 0-2, after falling to Methodist University 3-0, and to Babson College 4-1.
  • In the Methodist match, the Spartans led in corner kicks and was tied with Methodist in shots in the game.
  • Alexis Abelove took two of the six shots in the game.
  • In the Babson match, Babson had an own goal, knocking the ball in their own net to give the Spartans a point on the board.
  • Goalkeeper, Taylor Joiner, had four saves in the match.
