(BELLE VERNON, Pa.) - The Thomas More College women's golf team carded a 418 today (Friday, April 24, 2015) in the first round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Spring Championship played at Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.
The Saints are in fourth place in the PAC Championship standings with a 1,239 (396-425-418) as the PAC Championship counts towards one half of the 72-hole total used to determine the 2014-15 PAC champion, which earns the conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship. The first 36 holes were played at New Castle Country Club in New Castle, Pennsylvania on September 29 and 30, 2014.
Individually in the Spring Championship the Saints have three golfers in the Top-20 as freshman Shannon Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna) is in 13th with a 101, sophomore Katelyn Beatrice (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) is in a tie for 14th with a 102 and freshman Amber Greene (Catlettsburg, Ky./Fairview) is tied for 18th with a 106.
Rounding out Thomas More's golfers were sophomore Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) in 21st place with a 109 and freshman Lydia Fischesser (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) is in 27th with a 122.
Washington & Jefferson College is leading the team championship with a 1,096 (377-367-352) and the Presidents' Jocelyn Sudar is leading the individual Spring standings with an 82.
