(NEW CASTLE, Pa.) – The Thomas More College women's golf team is in second place at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Championship after carding a first round 396 today at the New Castle Country Club in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
The 2014-15 PAC Championships feature a 72-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes played at the Fall Championships and another 36 holes played at the Spring Championships in April. The combined 72-hole team total will determine the 2014-15 PAC team champions and winners of the league's women's automatic bids to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships.
Freshman Shanna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna) led the Saints as she is tied for third with a 91. Sophomore Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) is also in the Top-10 as she is tied for eighth with a 96.
Rounding out the Saints' golfers was freshman Amber Greene (Catlettsburg, Ky./Fairview) tied for 14th with a 104, sophomore Katelyn Beatrice (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) is 17th with a 105 and freshman Renee Theibert (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) is tied for 28th with a 116.
Washington & Jefferson College leads the team championship with a 377, while Grove City College's Esther Durling is leading the individual standings with an 89.
The final round of the Fall Championship will get underway at 8:30 tomorrow at New Castle Club Country Club.
