(INDEPENDENCE, Ky.) – The Thomas More College women's golf team defeated across-the-river rival Mount St. Joseph University, 413-425, today (Thursday, September 18, 2014) in a dual match at the Kenton County Golf Course's Willows Course in Independence, Kentucky.
The Saints were led by sophomore Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton), who earned medalist honors with a career-low 86.
Two other Saints finished in the Top-5 as freshman Shannon Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna) finished third with a 98 and freshman Amber Greene (Catlettsburg, Ky./Fairview) placed fifth with a 110. Freshman Sarah Roaden (Covington, Ky./Calvary Christian) finished tied for 10th with a 119 and junior Kelsey Hood (Carlisle, Ohio/Carlisle) placed 13th with a 132.
Four Saints competed as individuals and freshman Renee Thiebert (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) tied for sixth with a 111, sophomore Katelyn Beatrice (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) finished eighth with a 112, freshman Lydia Fischesser (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) finished ninth with a 114 and freshman Bethany DeAtley (Muses Mills, Ky./Fleming County) tied for 10th with a 119.
Thomas More is idle until September 29 and 30 when it travels to New Castle, Pennsylvania to play in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship at the New Castle Country Club.
