No. 21 Thomas More Sets Nine Tournament Records in a 115-26 Win Over Ohio-Chillicothe

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The 21st-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball team set nine Julie Costello Memorial Classic records today (Friday, November 29, 2019) as it defeated Ohio University-Chillicothe, 115-26, on the first day of the 18th Annual Julie Costello Memorial Classic – presented by Barleycorn's at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

  • Thomas More led 35-6 after one quarter and 64-12 at halftime.
  • The Saints shot 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the field in the first quarter, including 54.5 percent (six-of-11) from behind the three-point arc.
  • In the second quarter, Thomas More shot 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the field.
  • Senior forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) led all scorers in the first half with 16 points and seven rebounds.
  • Senior guard Kaela Saner (Florence, Ky./Boone County) added 15 points.

  • Thomas More extended the lead to 97-16 after three quarter before posting the 115-26 win.
  • Thomas More shot 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the field, including 80 percent (four-of-five) from behind the arc and 52.9 percent (nine-of-17) in the fourth quarter.

  • Thomas More improved to 5-0 and Ohio-Chillicothe fell to 0-9.
  • The Saints set the Julie Costello Memorial Classic record for points in a game (115), points in a half (64), defensive least points in a game (26), largest margin of victory (89), most field goals made (48), best field goal percentage (64.0), while Saner set the record for most three-pointer made (seven) and first-year guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) set the record for most assists (11).
  • Thomas More had a 54-10 advantage on points in the paint, 44-10 off turnovers, 13-2 in second chance points and 30-6 on fast breaks.
  • All 14 Saints that dressed tonight scored at least four points.
  • Saner led all scorers with 21 points as she was seven-for-seven from behind the three-point arc.
  • Schultz finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
  • First-year guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) had 11 points.
  • Junior forward Hayden White (Milford, Ohio/Milford) finished with 10 points.
  • Barth dished out 11 assists.

  • The Saints have will close out the Julie Costello Memorial Classic tomorrow when they play Miami University-Hamilton at 4 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
