(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) – Thomas More University head women's basketball coach Jeff Hans, senior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and senior forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) were named All-Great Lakes Region by the internet website, D3hoops.com.
Hans, who is in his eighth season at Thomas More, was named the Great Lakes Coach of the Year. He has guided the Saints to their second-straight and third NCAA Division III National Semifinal "Final Four" in the last four years with a 31-0 record. Thomas More posted its fourth undefeated regular season under Hans and he has as career record of 205-11 (.949) in Crestview Hills.
Temple was named Great Lakes Player of the Year for the second-straight season and was named first team All-Great Lakes Region. She leads the team in scoring (23.8 per game), rebounds (7.7 per game), assists (177) and steals (86), while also blocking 23 shots. Temple is shooting 61.8 percent (261-of-422) from the field, including 44.4 percent (44-of-99) from behind the arc and is an 89.2 percent (173-of-194) shooter at the free-throw line. She is Thomas More's all-time leading scorer with 2,147 points and assist person with 575 assists.
Rupp was named third team All-Great Lakes Region. She is second on the team with 12.2 points, 7.3 rebounds per game and 57 assists, while blocking 39 shots and recording 43 steals. Rupp is shooting 58.8 percent (157-of-267) from the field and is shooting 79.0 percent (64-of-81) at the free-throw line. She is averaging a double-double in the NCAA tournament as she is scoring 17.4 points per game and pulling down 10.5 rebounds per game.
The top-ranked Saints will play ninth-ranked University of Scranton on Friday (March 15) at 7:30 p.m. in a national semifinal game at the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.
