(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More University inaugural men's and women's swim and dive teams were very active in the community this weekend. The teams held their first intra-squad scrimmage after the team volunteered at the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, 12 members Thomas More University swim and eive team served as volunteers this past Saturday morning at the Walk to End Alzheimer's. The group spent the entire duration of the walk at the  "Cheer Station" located near the center of the Purple People Bridge.  The group  enthusiastically cheered, using noise makers and cow-bells, and supported all the walkers on the final stretch across the bridge from Kentucky to Ohio.  Many of the cow bells that the swimmers used were given away to children as they passed by the team. Thomas More was represented by Megan Hill, Ali Miller, Shelby Miller, Amanda Scola, Olivia Staverman, Alli Streaker, Justin HaileyAustyn Randall, Even Senecal, Austin Smith and Luke Stuart. The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event that raises awareness to help fund research, care, and support for the fight against the disease. More than 600 communities nationwide participate in the Walk.

On Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 the Saints team held the first ever, unofficial, the Intra-squad Pentathlon meet at Silverlake. The event was scheduled for one week before our first ever intercollegiate meet, the Kentucky Invitational at The University of Louisville. The results from this meet will be used to enter swimmers in proper events at our first meet. The swimmers competed in five short events: 100 yd. Freestyle, 50 yd. Backstroke, 50 yd. Breaststroke, 50 yd. Butterfly & 100 yd. Individual Medley. The events were timed and scored on an individual basis. The point system is like golf scores in that the lower the score, the better. It is based on the Division III NCAA National Championship Automatic Qualifying times. Scores for the non-championship events (50 strokes and 100 IM) are adjusted based on a factor derived from American records in short course meters. Unofficial school records were established in every event. Results from the intra-squad meet can be found here.

The teams open up the 2018-19 inaugural season at TMU this weekend at the Kentucky Invitational in Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 13.
