(AUSTIN, Texas) – Thomas More University junior midfielder Ian Manahan (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) has been named to the Academic NAIA All-District II Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of the America (CoSIDA).
Manahan carries a 3.97 grade point average in business and law. He played in all 17 of the Saints' matches, including starting in 16 of the matches. He played midfield, where he helped the defense post three shutouts, while taking two shots.
By virtue of making the Academic All-District II team, Manahan advances to the Academic All-America Team ballot.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot.
Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot. District II includes every NAIA institution in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA.
