Derrick earned two varsity letters at Stephen F. Austin High School, where he played for Shaun Moore ... named first team All-District his junior and senior seasons ... as a senior was second team All-District in mix doubles and was a regional qualifier.

Sophomore Highlights:
(2016-17) Competed on the No. 1 doubles tandem that won the PAC Championship and finished third at No. 1 singles ... Had a 11-9 singles record at No. 1 and No. 2 ... Had a 17-5 doubles record, including 8-0 in PAC matches, at No. 1.
