Stone, Horne Post Double-Doubles in 100-60 Win Over Manchester

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More men's basketball team ended 2018 with a statement win over Manchester, taking down the Spartans 100-60, led by Ralph Stone (Shelbyville, Ky. / Martha Layne Collins) and Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./Male). The Saints gained their 10th win of the season with the win tonight, improving to 10-7 overall.

  • Damion King (Winchester, Ky. / George Rogers Clark) led the team in the first-half, putting up over a third of the teams 43 points, ending the first half with 15 points, three rebounds and one steal, as well as going 4-4 from the foul line. 
  • Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) came off the bench and kept the Saints' spark going as he added 11 points, three rebounds, and one steal. 
  • The Saints got out quick to a 9-0 lead, keeping the Spartans from scoring until seven minutes into the game. 
  • Thomas More led by as much as 27 in the first-half, and went into the locker room with a 43-19 lead. 

  • Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky. / Campbell County) dominated in the second-half, scoring 11 points, six of which were beyond the arc. 
  • Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky. / Rowan County) went a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc, totaling nine points in the second-half. 
  • Stone dominated the boards in the second-half with five rebounds.
  • Callahan hit a three-pointer right out of the gate to start the second-half and the Saints never looked back. 
  • Thomas More took its largest lead of the game, 44, with under two minutes to go.
  • Ethan Robbins (Florence, Ky. / Boone County) and Antonio MnKinney (Macon, Ga. / Windsor Academy) came off the bench and drilled two three-pointers for each of their six points in the game. 

  • Stone and Horne each posted a double-double tonight, as Stone ended the game with 14 points for his fourth double-double this season, 10 rebounds, and Horne totaled 11 points, for his second double-double this season, 10 rebounds. 
  • Along with Stone and Horne, three other Saints posted double-digits tonight as King led the game with 19 points, and Bertsch and Batte both finished with 13.
  • Both Horne and Stone led the game with 10 rebounds each.
  • Stone, led the game with three steals while Horne, who was named the Jimmy Johns Player of the Game, posted the game-high of four assists. 
  • Callahan finished the game with nine points, three rebounds, three assists, adn one steal. 
  • Batte finished the game with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. 
  • King recorded five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. 
  • The Saints shot .574 from the field, .524 from beyond the arc, and .647 from the foul line. 

  •  The Saints remain at home hosting Miami-Hamilton on Jan. 5 for a 2 p.m. tip.
