(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's basketball team took down the Franklin College Grizzlies, 83-70, tonight in Crestview Hills, Ky. Ralph Stone put up a double-double and Damion King had the team high 29 points. With the win, the Saints improve to 7-3 overall and the Grizzlies fall to 2-8 overall.
Thomas More overcame an 11-point deficit, which was led by a three-pointer from Michael Griffin. The rally continued with a steal from Garren Bertsch followed by a fast break jumper from Stone. The Saints got within one from a three-pointer by Ryne Callahan with four minutes left in the half. The Saint took the lead with two minutes left with a jumper by Austin Young. Thomas More led 39-37 going into half-time.
Coming out of half-time, the Saints and Grizzlies went shot for shot, tying the game three times within the first two minutes. The Saints gained a five-point advantage on the Grizzlies from a three-pointer by King. Thomas More went on a five-point run giving them the lead by 10. With two minutes left to go, King swiped the ball from the Grizzlies and completed the play with a fast break layup, putting the Saints up by 13. Brandon Horne capped of the game with two free-throws sending the Saints to a 83-70 victory.
Along with his 10 rebound and 11 points double-double, Stone recorded four assists, and one steal. King also put up three rebounds and four steals to go with his 29 points. Horne went 100% from the field giving him 10 points, two assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
The Saints are off until December 30, travelling to Mount St. Joseph to compete in the Bridge Shootout. Tip-off will be at 3:00 PM.
