Thomas More Defeats Campbellsville, 31-28, For Second-Straight Win

(CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.) – The Thomas More University football won its second-straight game tonight (Saturday, October 12, 2019) as it defeated Campbellsville University, 31-28, in a Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division game on Citizens Bank Field at Finley Stadium in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

  • Thomas More took a 7-0 lead with 10:06 to play in the quarter when senior quarterback Justin Post (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) connected on a 30-yard touchdown pass to junior running back Justin Durham (Elsmere, Ky./Lloyd Memorial) and sophomore place kicker Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) added the point-after-attempt.
  • Campbellsville tied the game at 7-7 when Talaileva Sufia scored on a one-yard run and Noah Bicksler added the PAT with 6:44 to play in the quarter.
  • Post hooked up on an eight-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Da'marco Canty (Bogart, Ga./North Oconee) and Haley added the PAT to take a 14-7 lead with 2:22 to play in the first quarter.

  • The Tigers tied the game at 14-14 with 12:03 to play in the second quarter when Sufia connected on a 64-yard touchdown pass to Blake Baker and Bicksler added the PAT.
  • Junior running back Monalo Caldwell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored on a seven-yard run and Haley added the PAT to take a 21-14 lead with 7:03 to play in the second quarter.
  • Zachary Cole caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Sufia and Bicksler added the PAT with 5:31 to play in the second quarter and the Tigers tied the game at 21-21.
  • With 4:47 to play in the first half, Post connected on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Canty and Haley added the PAT and the Saints retook the lead at 28-21.
  • Campbellsville even the score at 28-28 with 3:12 to play in the quarter when Sufia connected on a 43-yard touchdown pass to Kendon Young and Bicksler added the PAT.

  • Haley gave the Saints a 31-28 lead when he connected on a 33-yard field goal with 3:23 to play in the third quarter.

  • Neither team scored in the final quarter and the Saints won the game, 31-28.

  • Thomas More improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division.
  • Campbellsville fell to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the Bluegrass Division.
  • The Saints out-gained the Tigers 498 yards (268 rushing/230 passing) to 360 yards (63 rushing/297 passing).
  • Post was 18-of-36 passing for 230 yards and three touchdowns, while he also rushed the ball four times for 33 yards.
  • Caldwell finished the game with 28 carries for 155 yards and one touchdown.
  • Durham had 11 rushes for 74 yards, while also pulling in two catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.
  • Canty finished with seven catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Senior wide receiver Johnny McNally (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) had four catches for 73 yards.
  • Senior linebacker Cody Coffey (Anderson, Ohio/Anderson) had nine tackles (six solo/three assisted), including one and a half sacks and one interception.
  • Sophomore linebacker Peyton Van Horn (Hebron, Ky./Hebron, Ky./Conner) had nine tackles (seven solo/one assisted).
  • Junior linebacker Ryan Stofko (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) finished with six tackles (three solo/three assisted).

  • Thomas More returns home next Saturday (October 19) to host 10th-ranked Lindsey Wilson College in a 1:30 p.m. Mid-South Bluegrass Division game on Homecoming at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
