(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University football team will hit the road for the sixth time this season on Saturday (October 20) when it travels to Duluth, Minnesota to play The College of St. Scholastica. Game is scheduled to kick-off at 12 p.m. Central/1 p.m. Eastern at Public School Stadium.
THE TEAMS: Thomas More, an independent, is 5-2 on the season after falling, 34-31, to 23rd-ranked Muhlenberg College last Saturday. St. Scholastica, a member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference is 4-2 after defeating Greenville College, 47-13, last Saturday.
THE COACHES: Trevor Stellman is in his first season as the head coach at Thomas More and has a 5-2 career record. He is no stranger to the Saints as he is a 2010 graduate of Thomas More and has been a Saint assistant coach the previous eight seasons. George Penree is in his first season as the interim head coach at St. Scholastica and has a 4-2 career record.
THOMAS MORE: The Saints are averaging 35.4 points per game this season. Thomas More has 463.9 yards per game in 2018 as it has 252.0 yards per game on the ground and 211.9 yards per game passing. Junior quarterback Justin Post is 106-of-183 passing for 1,483 yards and 13 touchdowns and also has 46 rushes for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Senior running backs Hjavier Pitts and Luke Zajac are splitting time at running back. Pitts has carried the ball 152 times for 976 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also pulling in 17 catches for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Zajac has 111 carries for 537 yards and five touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Logan Winkler has 21 catches for 369 yards and three touchdowns and junior wide receiver Da'marco Canty has 16 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns, while junior wide receiver Mitchell Hogue has 20 catches for 177 yards.
ST. SCHOLASTICA: In 2018, the Saints are averaging 30.0 points per game. St. Scholastica is averaging 412.3 yards per game as it has 82.2 yards per game rushing and 330.2 yards per game passing. Junior quarterback Zach Edwords is 157-of-281 passing for 1,977 yards and 19 touchdowns and also has 52 rushes for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back Jeff LeMay has 33 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Eddie Lee is the top receiver has he has 40 catches for 550 yards and five touchdowns, while senior wide receiver Aaron Olson has pulled in 32 catches for 564 yards and eight touchdowns.
THOMAS MORE: Thomas More held its opponents to 27.0 points per game in 2018. The Saints' opponents have rushed the ball for 121.4 yards per game and 303.0 yards passing for total of 424.4 yards per game. Junior defensive back Thomas Williams leads the team in tackles with 58 (33 solo/25 assisted) and has three forced fumbles. First-year linebacker Peyton Van Horn has 56 tackles (33 solo/23 assisted), including two and a half tackles for a loss and a half sack. Junior linebacker Cody Coffey has 54 tackles (30 solo/23 assisted), including three and a half tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery. Junior linebacker Adam Guard has 41 tackles (20 solo/21 assisted), including four tackles for a loss and one interception, while senior defensive back Steven Everson has 32 tackles (22 solo/10 assisted), including a tackle for a loss and a team-leading four interceptions.
ST. SCHOLASTICA: In 2018, the Saints have held their opponents to 23.7 points per game and 355.7 yards of total offense. St. Scholastica's opponents average 232.2 yards per game rushing and 123.5 yards per game passing. The Saints' defense is led by senior linebacker Jonathan Senger with 62 tackles (38 solo/24 assisted), including six tackles for a loss, and three sacks and senior linebacker Quinten McGregor with 62 tackles (29 solo/33 assisted), including five and a half tackles for a loss, one sack and one interception. Junior defensive lineman Trevor Schwartz has 48 tackles (19 solo/29 assisted), including five tackles for a loss and three and a half sacks, while sophomore defensive back Cody Pundsack has 48 tackles (29 solo/16 assisted), including three tackles for a loss.
