Saints Travel to Upstate New York to Play St. Lawrence



(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College returns to the road on Saturday (September 29) when it makes a trip to Canton, New York to play St. Lawrence University at Leckonby Stadium.

THE TEAMS: Thomas More, an independent, is 1-1 on the season after rallying to defeat Huntingdon College, 38-35, last week.  St. Lawrence, a member of the Liberty League, is 1-3 after falling to Morrisville State University, 34-26, on September 21. 

THE COACHES: Trevor Stellman is in his first season as the head coach at Thomas More and has a 3-1 career record.  He is no stranger to the Saints as he is a 2010 graduate of Thomas More and has been a Saint assistant coach the previous eight seasons.  Dan Puckhaber is in his third season as the head coach at St. Lawrence and has a 12-12 career record. 

THOMAS MORE: The Saints are averaging 32.0 points per game this season.  Thomas More averages 448.5 yards per game in 2018 as it has 253.5 yards per game on the ground and 195.0 yards per game passing.  Junior quarterback Justin Post is 63-of-111 passing for 780 yards and seven touchdowns and also has 28 rushes for 99 yards.  Senior running backs Hjavier Pitts and Luke Zajac  are splitting time at running back.  Pitts has carried the ball 82 times for 560 yards and five touchdowns, while Zajac has 71 carries for 347 yards and two touchdowns.  Senior wide receiver Logan Winkler is the Saints' top receiver as he has 11 catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

ST. LAWRENCE: In 2018, the Saints are averaging 21.0 points per game.  St. Lawrence is averaging 352.0 years per game as it has 49.5 yards per game rushing and 302.5 yards per game passing.  First-year quarterback Tyler Grochot is 85-of-167 passing for 1,080 yards and nine touchdowns.  First-year running back Darian Davis has 25 carries for 73 yards.  Senior wide receiver Travis Marnell is the top receiver has he has 22 catches for 284 yards and five touchdowns, while sophomore wide receiver Andrew Murphy has 19 catches for 268 yards and a touchdown and sophomore wide receiver Anthony Ferraro has 17 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

THOMAS MORE: Thomas More held its opponents to 29.0 points per game in 2018.  The Saints' opponents have rushed the ball for 131.8 yards per game and 318.0 yards passing for total of 449.8 yards per game.  Junior defensive back Thomas Williams leads the team in tackles with 36 (21 solo/15 assisted) and has two forced fumbles.  First-year linebacker Peyton Van Horn has 26 tackles (16 solo/10 assisted), including one tackle for a loss.  Junior linebacker Cody Coffey has 25 tackles (14 solo/11 assisted, including one and a half tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery and senior defensive back Steven Everson has 24 tackles (14 solo/10 assisted), including a tackle for a loss and a team-leading four interceptions.

ST. LAWRENCE: In 2018, the Saints have held their opponents to 28.5 points per game and 407.8 yards of total offense.  St. Lawrence's opponents average 192.0 yards per game rushing and 215.5 yards per game passing.  The Saints' defense is led by sophomore linebacker Liam Murray, who has 40 tackles (20 solo/20 assisted), including one tackle for a loss.  Junior defensive back Tyler Burns has 25 tackles (15 solo/10 assisted) and one interception.  Junior linebacker Pat Vandermak has 22 tackles (seven solo/15 assists with one interception and first-year linebacker Amir Mells has 20 tackles (11 solo/nine assisted),
