Kara Thompson

Kara Thompson is in her 9th season as the head dance coach at Thomas More during the 2025-26 academic year.

In the Saints inaugural season in DII, the competition dance team competed in two competitions. The DTU Collegiate Virtual Championship where they placed second overall and The College Classic in Orlando where they finished fourth in POM and fifth in JAZZ.

During the 2023 season, the competition dance team won their second consecutive Mid-South Conference Championship. The Saints finished with six first place finishes and qualified for Nationals where they placed ninth. 

In 2022, the competition dance team led by Thompson won their first Mid South Conference title. Thompson earned the 2022 Coach of the Year honors in the Mid South Conference. The Saints went on to qualify for the NAIA nationals where they placed 8th and 9th.

Thompson earned her bachelor's and master's degree from Northern Kentucky University and currently works at NKU full-time as the Assistant Director of Advising for the College of Informatics. She began her college dance experience at The Ohio State University where she was a member of the Division I Ohio State University Dance Team. Thompson transferred to NKU in 2010 where she was a member of the Division II Northern Kentucky University Dance Team for three years, two of which she was the team captain.

Prior to Thomas More, Thompson was a member of the Oak Hills coaching staff in Cincinnati, Ohio and taught private lessons for the program in the off-season.
