Marti Fiedler is in her first season as the head cheer coach at Thomas More University during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Marti Fiedler has been passionate about cheerleading for as long as she can remember. What began as a childhood hobby quickly grew into a lifelong commitment to the sport — first as an athlete, then as a coach, judge, and mentor. She believes cheerleading builds more than skills; it develops confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership, values she strives to instill in every athlete she works with.
A native of Newport, Kentucky, Marti now resides in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, with her husband, Brad, and their three children — Elena, Jackson, and Ren. Her father, Jim Hesch, is a proud graduate of Thomas More College. Marti is honored to coach at her father’s alma mater.
Marti began cheering at the age of five for the Newport Firefighters and went on to cheer at Newport High School. She also cheered competitively with Top Flight Gymnastics, Southern Ohio Rebels, and Kentucky Elite North, and danced competitively with both the Southern Ohio Rebels and Kentucky Elite North.
She continued her cheer and dance journey at Northern Kentucky University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. While at NKU, she was a member of both the Norse Dance Team and the Norse Small Coed Cheerleading Team, experiences that helped shape her lifelong passion for the sport.
Marti brings 16 years of high school coaching experience, having coached at Lloyd Memorial High School, Highlands High School, and Simon Kenton High School. She also choreographed for the competitive cheer team at Bishop Brossart High School.
Beyond coaching, Marti remains actively involved in the cheer community at the state and national levels. She serves as the Region 9 Representative for the Kentucky Association of Pep Organization Sponsors (KAPOS), is a certified USA Cheer professional, and works as a judge for the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA).
Outside of cheer, Marti works for Hamilton County as part of the daily operations and security team at Paycor Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Marti is passionate about mentoring athletes, supporting coaches, and fostering programs that encourage discipline, teamwork, and personal growth. Whether on the sidelines, in the classroom, or within the community, she continues to make a lasting impact through her dedication to cheerleading and the athletes she serves.
