Baseball Takes on ONU Today at 4 p.m.

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More baseball team comes into today's game 7-9 overall and on a one-game losing streak. The Saints take on Ohio Northern University, who is 7-7 overall and on a four-game losing streak. 

  • The Saints recently went 2-1 in a three-game series agaisnt Transylvania over the weekend. 
  • On the first day, the Saints defeated Transy 7-6. On Saturday in games two and three, the Saints split with the Pioneers, winning the second game 13-7 and dropping the third game, 8-7. 
  • In game two, senior designated hitter Sam Hauer was four-for-five with four runs batted-in, a double and a run scored.
  • Junior catcher Matt Wellbrock was three-for-five with a triple, two runs scored and a RBI.
  • First-year second baseman Brett Benzinger was two-for-four with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
  • Senior center fielder Blaise Ostertag was two-for-five with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
  • Senior shortstop Sean Lawrence was two-for-four with three runs scored.
  • In game three, left fielder Brady Reynolds was three-for-four with two RBI and a run scored.
  • Bailey Martin was three-for-five with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
  • Ostertag finished the game two-for-four with a double and two runs scored.


  • Recently, the Polar Bears fell to Trine, 2-1.
  • ONU is averaging a .317 batting average an da .377 slugging percentage. 
  • Michael Rocco leads the team with a .435 batting average and 20 hits this season. 
  • Luke Klinehoffer holds the team-high with 23 hits and 14 runs.
  • Jack Schaller leads the pitching team with a 1.39 ERA.
