(ORLANDO, FL) – The Thomas More University Dance competed at the DTU College Classic National Championship in Orlando, Florida on April 10-12. The Saints competed in the DII Pom category.
The team advanced to the Finals where they scored 86.24 to finish in fourth place out of twelve teams that made it to the finals after the preliminary round in which the Saints scored 83.00. Within the finals, Thomas More was just .5 from third place team University of Tampa while Saginaw Valley State won with a 89.04.
"We knew just making it to nationals would be a victory for us this season," said Dance Head Coach
Kara Thompson. "This team faced more than its share of obstacles, and there were times when simply getting everyone on the floor together felt uncertain. To step onto that stage with just seven dancers, when most of the top teams have around twenty, and still earn such an outstanding placement speaks volumes about their resilience, work ethic, and heart. What made this season truly special, though, was the connection these athletes built with one another. They showed up for each other every single day, pushed through challenges together, and created a level of trust and support that you can't teach, it has to be earned. Watching them celebrate each other and seeing their efforts rewarded at nationals was incredibly meaningful. I couldn't be prouder of this group, and I'm so excited for what's ahead. With every dancer returning next season, stronger and healthier, the foundation they've built this year is going to carry us to even greater heights."
