(MANHEIM, Pa.) – The Thomas More wrestling program added to the success of their 2022-23 season yesterday, as six Saints were named NAIA Men's Individual Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
The six are
Dru Baker (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty-Benton),
Zavier Campsey,
Ian Daugherty (Burlington, Ky./Cooper),
Joey Hunt,
Daulton Mayer (Mentor, Ky./Walton-Verona), and
Zachary Watson (Verona, Ky./Walton-Verona). This is the third time that Mayer has been honored, while it is the first time for the other five wrestlers. Mayer, Daugherty, and Baker were also named Academic All Mid-South Conference and NAIA Scholar Athletes earlier this year.
The Saints are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history. They finished in a tie for seventh at the NAIA National Championships, which is their best finish ever. They had five wrestlers qualify for nationals with three earning All-American status in
Ryan Moore (Crittenden, Ky./Walton-Verona/Cornell University),
Wilder Wichman (Johnson Creek, Wis./Johnson Creek), and
Daulton Mayer.
