(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's tennis team defeated Shawnee State University, 7-0, tonight (Saturday, February 1, 2020) in its Mid-South Conference opener played indoors at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-South.
- The No. 1 tandem of senior Brooke Warden (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) and first-year Kimberly Sabga (Maraual, Trinidad and Tobago/International School of Port of Spain) won 6-2.
- Sophomore Kayla Snyder (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) and sophomore Alyssa Dowdell (Vine Grove, Ky./North Hardin) were leading 5-3 in their unfinished No. 2 match.
- The No. 3 pair of junior Matison Perry (Union, Ky./Ryle) and senior Lacey Pohlman (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) won 6-1.
- Warden won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1.
- Sabga was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 2.
- At No. 3, Snyder won 6-2, 6-3.
- Dowdel was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 4.
- Perry won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
- Junior Jana Riffe (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
- Thomas More returns to action next Friday (February 7) when it hosts Union (Ky.) College at 7 p.m. at Five Seasons Sports Club.
