Box Score (Crestview Hills, Ky.) – The men's basketball program defeated Midway University at the Coach Connor Classic by a score of 84-69. With the win the Saints move to 3-0 to start the 2020-21 campaign.
- Junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) started the game by scoring 9 of the first 12 points for TMU helping them jump out to a 12-2 lead.
- Senior Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a layup with 14:25 remaining putting Thomas More up 14-4.
- Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Gerogetown) made a three-pointer at 6:40 remaining in the first half giving the Saints a 30-22 lead.
- Following a run from Midway Senior Keegan Saben (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) hit back-to-back threes to give TMU a 38-34 lead right before half.
- Sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would score 7 points in two and half minutes keeping Thomas More on top 49-39.
- Batte went on another scoring run scoring 7 straight points for the Saints making the lead 59-50 in favor of TMU.
- Bertsch found Saben for a layup with 3:40 remaining putting Thomas More up 11.
- Bertsch finished off the scoring with a layup for the Saints making the final tally 84-69 TMU.
- Batte led the Saints in scoring with 27 and rebounds with 12.
- Seniors Braden Conner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) and Garren Bertsch received the Coach Connor Awards.
- Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) led in assists 7 also had 8 rebounds.
- Shot 51.8% from the field as a team.
The men's basketball program will hit the road for the first time in the 2020-21 season, traveling to Columbia Kentucky, where they will face off against Lindsey Wilson in Mid-South Conference action on December 3, tipoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET.
