(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) — The Thomas More University men's rugby team improved to 4-1 with a 72-10 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday (October 5, 2019).
On Monday, September 30, The Saints Rugby program volunteered to help the Kentucky Special Olympics Organization with their bowling night at the Super Bowl in Erlanger, Ky. The night was a spiritual lift for the team and a camaraderie and bond was formed with the bowlers that carried over through each practice leading to the game Saturday.
As they did the previous week in their 44-8 victory against Southern Indiana University, the Saints scored quickly and often in the first 20 minutes of the game. By halftime, the Saints led 36-5 in a dominating performance where they won in all phases of play. The second half was more of the same as the team doubled the scoring to earn a 72-10 victory.
Tries were scored by Joah Schricker, Brysen Little (2), Damon Jones (2), Tyler Urbina (2), Hudson Montgomery, Johnny Carmichael, Michael Faeo and Max Pollard. In addition to scoring a try, Trevor Amback also made six 2-point conversion kicks after the tries were awarded.
The Saints next match is at Kent State University on October 28. The Saints have qualified for the MCRC Tournament Championships on November 2 and 3.
