(SANDUSKY, Ohio) – The Thomas More University wrestling team went 1-3 today (Saturday, December 15, 2018) at the Kalahari Duals hosted by Heidelberg University at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio.
WAYNESBURG UNIVERSITY MATCH:
- Thomas More fell, 30-15, to the Yellow Jackets.
- Sophomore Jimmy Murphy (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had a 7-2 decision win at 125.
- First-year Kelby Gay (Danville, Ky./Danville) earned a 7-4 decision win at 133.
- Sophomore Kenny Byers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) earned an 8-5 sudden victory at 141.
- Sophomore Cody Roland (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) had a 7-6 decision win at 149.
- Junior Avery Jones (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) had a 9-4 decision win at 184.
KEYSTONE UNIVERSITY MATCH:
- Thomas More was a 36-23 winner over Keystone.
- Murphy had a forfeit win at 125.
- Gay had a forfeit win at 133.
- First-year Garren Moody (Danville, Ky./Danville) had a forfeit win at 157.
- First-year Daylan Bailey (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) earned a pin in 32-seconds at 174.
- Jones had a forfeit win at 184.
- Junior James Caniglia (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) had a pin in 2:14 at 197.
HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY MATCH:
- Heidelberg won the match 53-0.
- Murphy battled, but fell by a 3-2 decision at 125.
UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION MATCH:
- The sixth-ranked Purple Raiders won the match 34-12.
- Bailey won at 174 by injury at 4:29
- Jones had a pin in 1:57 at 184.
