(CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.) – The Thomas More College wrestling team went 1-2 today (Saturday, January 20, 2018) at the Max Servies Duals hosted by Wabash College inside the Knowling Fieldhouse in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
The Saints fell, 45-0, to host Wabash in the first match of the day. First-year Tanner Yenter (California, Ky./Campbell County) battled before falling by a 2-0 decision and sophomore James Caniglia (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) batted before falling by a 4-3 decision in his 197 match.
In the second match of the day, Thomas More fell, 33-20, to Manchester University. First-year Jimmy Murphy (Milford, Ohio/Milford) got the Saints on the board early with a 7-3 decision at 125. First-year Jimmy Traub (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) earned a pin in 4:58 at 157 and sophomore Avery Jones (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) had a pin in 1:33 at 184. Caniglia then recorded a 16-0 technical fall at 197.
Thomas More defeated Millikin University, 41-12, in the final match of the day. The Saints won the first eight weight classes. Murphy had a pin in 4:10 at 125 and Yenter had a pin in 2:14 at 133. Sophomore Parker Buschelman (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) earned a forfeit win at 141 and first-year Andrew Tevis (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood) had a 10-3 decision win at 149. Traub followed that up with an 8-5 decision win and first-year Gunnar Dawson (Madison, Ohio/Madison) had a 17-2 technical fall win. Then at 174 sophomore Antonio Reynolds (Fostoria, Ohio/Fostoria) had a pin in 4:46 and Jones had a pin in 3:29 at 184.
Thomas More returns to action on January 26 and 27 when it travels to Wheaton, Illinois to compete at the Pete Wilson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.
