Thomas More Defeats Berea, 8-1

(BEREA, Ky.) – The Thomas More College women's tennis team defeated Berea College, 8-1, tonight (Friday, October 7, 2016) in a non-conference match at the Evans Tennis Complex in Berea, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 8-1 and with the loss Berea falls to 1-6.

Thomas More led 2-1 after doubles play as the No. 2 team of senior Anna Hetzer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and first-year Lacey Pohlman (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) won 8-1 and the No. 3 team of first-year Grace Lubbe (Erlanger, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) and sophomore Madison Light (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Latin) won 8-6.

The Saints swept all six singles matches as first-year Brooke Warden (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Hetzer won at No. 2 by the scores of 6-3, 6-1, Pohlman won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, sophomore Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Lubbe won at No. 5 by the scores of 6-1, 6-3 and sophomore Sarah Hastings (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

Thomas More returns to action tomorrow as it travels to Tiffin, Ohio to play Heidelberg University at 12 p.m.
