(PARK HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches today (Wednesday, September 30, 2015) as it defeated Bethany College, 8-1, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Covington Catholic Courts in Park Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the PAC.
Thomas More swept the doubles matches and 3-0 as the No. 1 tandem of sophomore Alyssa DeFiglio (West Harrison, Ind./East Central) and freshman Maryann Meadows (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) won 8-1, the No. 2 team of junior Anna Hetzer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and freshman Nicole Capodagli (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) won 8-2 and the No. 3 team of freshmen Jeni Hall (Lebanon, Ky./Marion County) and Lydia Olsen (Batesville, Ohio/Batesville) won 8-0.
The Saints won five of the six singles matches to claim the 8-1 victory. Olsen won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, Hetzer won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, freshman Sarah Hastings (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) won at No. 4 by the score of 6-1, 6-2, Meadows won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and freshman Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) won at No. 6 by the score of 6-1, 6-0.
Thomas More returns to action on Friday (October 2) when it travels to Middletown, Ohio to play Miami University-Middletown at 3 p.m.
