(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three-matches as it defeated Bethany College, 5-4, today (Saturday, April 18, 2015) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match indoors at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in the PAC.
The Saints led 2-1 at doubles play as the No. 1 tandem of sophomores Austin Justice (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and Jared Justice (Mason, Ohio/Mason) won 8-5 and the No. 2 team of junior Sergio Pascual (Carrollton, Ky./Carroll County) and freshman Sam Lewis (Stawell, England/Crispin School) won 9-8 (10-8).
Thomas More won three of the six singles matches to clinch the win as Pascual won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, Jared Justice won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 and Austin Justice won 6-0, 6-0 at No.3.
Thomas More's match scheduled with Oakland City University for tomorrow (Sunday, April 19) has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. The Saints will return to the courts on April 24 and 25 when they compete in the PAC Championship at Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pennsylvania.
