Thomas More Cruises Past Oakland City, 9-0

(PARK HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College women's tennis team defeated Division II-member Oakland City University, 9-0, today (Sunday, October 4, 2015) in a non-conference match at the Covington Catholic Tennis Courts in Park Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 7-6 and with the loss, the Lady Oaks fall to 0-6.

The Saints dominated in doubles play as they never lost a point.  The No. 1 tandem of sophomore Alyssa DeFiglio (West Harrison, Ind./East Central) and freshman Maryann Meadows (Cold Springs, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) won 8-0, the No. 2 team of junior Anna Hetzer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and freshman Nicole Capodagli (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) won 8-0 and the No. 3 team of freshmen Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) and Sarah Hastings (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) won by forfeit.

In singles play, DeFiglio won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, freshman Lydia Olsen (Batesville, Ind./Batesville) won 6-1, 6-0 No. 2, Hetzer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, Capodagli won at No. 4 by the score of 6-2, 6-1, freshman Rachel Higgins (Middletown, Ohio/Lakota East) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and freshman Jeni Hall (Lebanon, Ky./Marion County) won at No. 6 by forfeit.

Thomas More is idle until Saturday (October 10) when it hosts Waynesburg University at 10 a.m. the Covington Catholic Courts.
