(BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Thomas More College men's tennis team won its second-straight match as it defeated Bethany College, 6-3, today (Friday, April 11, 2014) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the TPJ Recreation Center in Bethany, West Virginia.
With the win, the Saints improve to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in the PAC and with the loss, the Bison fall to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the PAC.
Bethany led 2-1 after doubles play as the No. 1 tandem of freshmen Jared Justice (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and Austin Justice (Mason, Ohio/Mason) earned the Saints' lone point as they won 9-7.
Thomas More won five of the six singles matches to rally and win the match 6-3. Sophomore Sergio Pascual (Carrollton, Ky./Carroll County) won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 1, Jared Justice won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, Austin Justice won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3, senior Tim Rice (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) won 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 and senior Ben Millman (Paducah, Ky./Community Christian) won 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 at No. 5.
The Saints return to action tomorrow (Saturday, Aril 12) when they play a doubleheader in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. Thomas More will play Thiel College at 10 a.m. and host Westminster College at 1 p.m.
