Wrestling Finishes Fourth at Washington & Jefferson Invitational

(WASHINGTON, Pa.) – The Thomas More University wrestling team finished fourth today (Saturday, November 10, 2018) at the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational held inside the Henry Memorial Center in Washington, Pennsylvania.

  • Thomas More had five wrestlers place at the invitational.
  • Sophomore Jimmy Murphy (Milford, Ohio/Milford) placed second at 125 as he had a pin, a major decision and decision win, but fell by major decision in the championship match.
  • Junior Avery Jones Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) finished second at 184 as he had two pins and a decision win before falling by decision in the championship match.
  • Junior James Caniglia (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) placed second at 197 as he had two decision wins and a pin before suffering a decision loss in the championship match.
  • Junior Andrew Taylor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) finished third at 174 with two pins and a technical fall loss in the preliminaries and then winning by decision in the third place match.
  • Sophomore Jimmy Traub (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) was fourth at 165 with a pin and a decision win before falling by a pin and then a decision loss in the third place match.

  • The Saints return to action next Saturday (November 17) when they travel to Angola, Indiana to compete in the Thunder Duals hosted by Trine University.
