(OWENSBORO, Ky.) – The Thomas More University wrestling team opened the season today (Saturday, November 3, 2018) with a 35-10 win over NCAA Division II member Kentucky Wesleyan University in Owensboro, Kentucky.

  • Sophomore Jimmy Murphy (Milford, Ohio/Milford) suffered an 8-7 decision loss at 125.
  • Sophomore Kenny Byers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) had a 10-7 decision win at 133.
  • At 141, first-year Devin Wood (Columbus, Ohio/Central Crossing) registered a 3-0 decision win.
  • Sophomore Cody Roland (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) took a 5-0 decision loss at 149.
  • Sophomore Gavin Foushee (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) earned a forfeit win at 157.
  • At 165, sophomore Jimmy Traub (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) had a 24-7 technical fall win.
  • Junior Andrew Taylor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) had a forfeit win at 174.
  • Junior Avery Jones (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) had a pin in 5:24 at 184.
  • At 197, junior James Caniglia (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) won by forfeit.
  • First-year Tyler Kassinger (Louisville, Ky./South Oldham) suffered a 9-3 decision loss at 285.

  • Thomas More returns to action next Saturday (November 10) when it competes at the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational in Washington, Pennsylvania.
